Travel directions to Canterbury

By Air.

London Heathrow; either take London Underground Piccadilly Line; change at Hammersmith station to District Line (direction Upminster or Tower Hill) to London Victoria (7 stops)  - journey takes about 50 minutes and costs £4.00. Then see below from Victoria.

Alternatively, take the Heathrow Express to Paddington Rail station - journey time 15mins, £14.50 single, £28 return; change there to London Underground Bakerloo line southbound to Charing Cross (7 stops) - journey takes about 40 minutes and costs £4.00. Then see below.

London Gatwick; From Gatwick  trains leave hourly at 53 mins past the hour to Tonbridge, change there for Canterbury West journey time about 2 hrs . Trains also leave at 08 mins past to Redhill, change there for Tonbridge, and again for Canterbury West journey time about 2 hrs 10 mins. Return tickets cost £40.20.

Alternatively Gatwick Express to London Victoria  - journey takes 30 mins, leaves four times each hour, through ticket to Canterbury costs £62.60 return. Then see below from Victoria. Total journey time about 2 hours 22 minutes

By Train:  From Victoria railway station take train to Canterbury East. During the day trains leave at 03 and 33 minutes past the hour (more frequently in rush hour). Journey takes about 90 mins and costs £21.60 each way.

From Charing Cross or Waterloo East railway stations take train to Canterbury West. Trains leave at 23 and 53 mins past each hour; journey takes 1 hour 30 minutes, costs £21.60 each way.

By Bus:  From London Victoria Coach Station buses leave for Canterbury Coach Station every half hour. Journey takes about 2 hours, fares can be as cheap as £10 return if you buy an advance booking `Fun Fare' ticket through the National Express website www.nationalexpress.com.
