Inclusive Church General Synod Coalition Campaign
During the first half of 2010 the Inclusive Church General Synod Campaign Coalition will
- Encourage both existing and new members to stand for General Synod by use of a national network of contacts and support
- Set up 10 regional Workshop Days between April and July helping candidates shape their own steps towards election success
- Provide support and education, regionally and nationally, through both the election process itself and the work of the new General Synod
Rev Clare Herbert, Programme Director of Inclusive Church, will act as the Campaign Coordinator. The coalition needs to find £16,000 which is half Clare's salary for a year plus campaign expenses of travel and&equipment. Each coalition partner aims to contribute roughly £1000, therefore Include Me In Campaign Costs = £10,000
Will you be included? Will you help to raise these costs by filling in the form attached for a one off Donation and/or Banker's Order
In so doing you will help to maximise elections to the 2010 - 2015 General Synod of clergy and lay members supportive of building an inclusive church and eager to celebrate the wide diversity of Anglicanism.
If you are included, others are too!

Inclusive Church General Synod Campaign Coalition
The General Synod was set up in 1970 so that everyone - bishops, clergy and laity - could share in the governance of the Church of England. It has 476 members who are elected every 5 years. Since the last elections in 2005 Inclusive Church has supported Synod members working for the Anglican tradition of inclusion and diversity within the life and decision making of the Synod. We have also facilitated a developing coalition of Synod members drawn from the Association of Black Clergy, Affi rming Catholicism, Group for Rescinding the Act of Synod, the Human Sexuality Group in Synod, Inclusive Church, the Modern Churchpeople's Union, Society of Catholic Priests and Women and the Church. Building on the effectiveness of the coalition's work so far The Inclusive Church General Synod Campaign Coalition 2010 has three aims for the elections of this summer. We aim for a 2010 - 2015 General Synod membership which has
- At least a two thirds majority in both clergy and lay houses seeking to bring about the full inclusion of women in the Episcopate
- A majority inclusive stance on all matters affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people
- Double the present representation of black and minority ethnic people
Will you be included?
Will you stand for election in the House of Clergy, or the House of Laity?
Will you support those who are standing with your gifts of skill or money?
Will you help to build a better Church, a Church fully represented in its governance, a Church eager to resolve in an inclusive way the challenging issues which face the next Synod - The Anglican Covenant; Women Bishops; Multi- Faith Britain; Schools and Young People; Mission?
