Matters arising - Pre Lambeth Round Up of News

1. Please everyone responsible for Fringe Timetables check MCU event is on 30th July not 23rd

2. We have been circulating rough copies of our Fringe Timetable for a while now - those remain in place but there is also a copy of the full Fringe on the Lambeth Market Place Site at the very end which is worth looking at. But because some of our groups have been missed out we will also have on the Stalls an Inclusive Church Network Timetable. This will include events called "Alongside at Lambeth” , a series of daily Bible Studies and Talks to permit volunteers to enter more fully in to the life of the Conference. (more news to come about Alongside at Lambeth as times and venues emerge)

3. Training and Coordination Sessions for Volunteers; There is a training session for all Stall Volunteers (IC is running this but if you belong to any partner group and want to come you will be very welcome indeed. The more we pool our resources the better.) You can come either to

A "Inspire” at St Peter's Church Liverpool Grove on Saturday 5th July at 11.30am with sandwich lunch.

OR

B Southwark Cathedral after the morning service on Sunday 6th July at 12.45 pm and later go out for lunch

During these sessions run by Giles and Clare we will looking at general practicalities, what we are trying to achieve on the stall, how to work the Disciplined Listening Process (see attached) and what else to enjoy during your stay brief or long at the Conference

C In addition to these training sessions in London in early July, there will also be a Volunteers Orientation Session at 4.00pm at St Stephen's Church Hall , Hales Drive, Canterbury CT2 7AB on Saturday 19th July. This session is for all those coming to help the Inclusive Church Network in the Fringe and Marketplace and will be particularly helpful for those working as volunteers for more than one day. In the meeting we shall be working with our partners from different parts of the world face to face for the first time for most of us - do come if you can.

4. Reports from the partner groups.

1. Jeremy Marks of Courage has written a book for Lambeth from the perspective of the pastoral tragedies involved in his experience of people trying to change from gay to straight. This book may turn out to have great significance for the inclusive lobby because it is about Christians trying their hardest to be changed for the sake of Christ and finding something rather different happening after all! The launch of ”Exchanging the Truth of God for a Lie” is on Wed 2nd July at 7.00pm at St Peter's Liverpool Grove, SE17 2HH. All are welcome to support Jeremy who has been such a staunch supporter of the Inclusive Church Network over this past year.

2. Re Security - security passes will now be granted to stall volunteers who sent in photographs expecting to be given a pass. Please collect them from your stall in the Charities Marquee. If you are simply coming to an event PLEASE SEND OR GIVE YOUR NAME TO THE ORGANISER OR ORGANISING STALL so that you can be added to the list of those attending

3 MCU need volunteers to help with their stall

4 Caro Hall of Integrity is helping Giles Goddard of Inclusive Church and Simon Samiento of Thinking Anglicans put together the programme of talks and prayers for Volunteers " Alongside at Lambeth” . She is also acting as a Chaplain to the Inclusive Church Network during the Conference. She can be found on 0750 368 1408 . Also acting as Chaplains are the Clergy Team of St Stephen's Church Canterbury , the Revd Justin Lewis-Anthony , the Rector of St Stephen's , 07779 030896, and Dr Peter Toon, Reader at St Stephen's. The Chaplains will be saying Evening Prayer each day at 5.00pm in St Stephen's Church where we are all welcome to join them.

5. If you would like to see or use the logo for the Inclusive Church Network which will be distributed to your stall in the forms of posters, T shirts (for sale), badges and post cards (freebies) please see the attachment showing the work of HIT studio. It would be helpful if each partner group could find space in their stall design for 1 A4 poster with windmill and strap-line as you design your stalls.

6 If you want to contribute to the newsletter please read Katie's guidelines (circulated on 12th June) and respond to Katie at ks1246@charter.net

7 The PCN book " Together in Hope: Proclaiming God's Justice, Living God's Love” is ready for the press and contains articles by members of the partner groups. It will be launched on Saturday 26th July at the party following the Inclusive Eucharist in the Keynes Atrium at 8.00pm (see cover attached)

8 Daily prayers and debriefing sessions - these will take place at 5.00pm in St Stephen's Church and be led by the parish team there. After the prayers the first debriefing of the evening will be a simple round up of what we have been experiencing , helped on we hope by evidence on the Disciplined Listening Process forms if we find volunteers happy to use them. The DLP was suggested by bishops at a recent Chicago Consultation as a way of simply being aware of what others are saying in and around the Conference so that we ourselves "take in” directions of thought and reaction surrounding us and learn better how to respond in future work. I enclose the DLP form as an attachment.

9. From 6.00pm onwards there will be a busy atmosphere around the Communications Centre as we try to prepare the Newsletter "the Lambeth Witness” for the next day. But there will also be before that we hope food, kindly prepared by Changing Attitude Volunteers, chat and the chance to wind down a bit for those who want to come and find us there. There is also a great pub across the road!

10. Last but not least - for those who happen to find themselves on the Brit side of the Pond in September there will be a

Brief review with Shared Supper

"Looking Back and Looking Forwards” - The Inclusive Church Network's Work post Lambeth

Monday 22nd September 6.30pm - 9.00pm at St Matthew's House Westminster

Please would everyone bring some party food to share together!
