19th November 2007
ONLY DAYS TO GO! Drenched in Grace is on Wednesday. Excellent speakers and a very exciting list of delegates bodes well for the conference. Plans are reaching their final form - arrivals are from 2 pm on Wednesday 21st. Tea at 4. The conference begins formally at 5 pm with "The Gathering". Dr Jenny Te Paa is the first speaker, hot foot from Korea, Rwanda and Burundi. More details on the day. There are "just a few places left" so you can still book by going to Drenched in Grace and downloading a brochure. You won't regret it....Scott Gunn will be blogging from the Conference and the papers will also be posted on the website so you can follow from afar if you're not able to be with us.
Goddard to Goddard
The correspondence between Andrew Goddard and Giles Goddard has started up again - you can read their most recent exchange at Goddard to Goddard . Now more than ever it's important that the different parts of the church try to understand each other better. The Diocese of Pittsburgh has voted to secede from the Episcopal Church (TEC) in the USA, and the Primate of the church of the Southern Cone has apparently offered oversight. Bishop Katherine Jefferts Schori has made the consequences of secession very clear by advising those Bishops who do seek to take their Dioceses out of TEC that there will be canonical consequences. So things are getting more complicated. We deeply regret the way some english Bishops are getting themselves invovled in the Episcopal Church's internal affairs - it's hard to see how their contributions help. Follow it all on (www.thinkinganglicans.org.uk) Thinking Anglicans (if you can!).
New on the website
We've posted details about the Anglican Church in Mexico, for those who missed Archbishop Carlos' talk. Visit Anglican Communion. We've also posted a list of recommended books to do with aspects of inclusion and the gospel - including recent publications on the environment, books by Jack Spong and Giles Fraser and many other interesting titles. Some recommended books in Churches and Resources.
That's all for now
but plenty more during and after Drenched in Grace -
Clare Herbert, IC Coordinator
